NEW DELHI: A 26-year-old loan shark was killed after being shot in the head allegedly by a man with whom he had an argument over money, police said Thursday.
Avinash died during treatment on Thursday, they said, adding that efforts were being made to catch the accused, Vicky.
The incident took place on Wednesday evening in the Ambedkar Nagar area of south Delhi, they said.
Police say Avinash, Vicky and others were in the Dakshinpuri area when they got into an argument over the money. Vicky then pulled out a gun and shot Avinash in the head.
Avinash, who was seriously injured, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead during treatment, a senior police officer said.
The preliminary investigation found that Avinash, who is a money lender, had a financial dispute with Vicky who also lived in the same locality as him, the officer said.
Deputy Police Commissioner (South) Benita Mary Jaiker said: “We have registered a case under section 307 (attempted murder) and section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code has been added with d ‘other relevant articles of the law on weapons. An investigation is underway to identify the culprits. ”
